A little about our products:

Our Process:

We design all of our original indigo prints from sketching to final design with a combination of traditional paper media and digital touch-ups which are then scanned and printed. The design is transferred to a linoleum block and the block is cut in preparation for printing with ground indigo dye.

The linocut prints are then placed in a reduction bath until edge-haloing occurs and then they are dried, ironed, and starched. Finally, the linen is trimmed and placed in a frame package made of mount board, acrylic glass and a hand cut passe partout.

To obtain a dark, saturated indigo colour on our pieces, we print our designs individually using one of our handcut blocks, and subsequently reduce them to the point in which edge haloing occurs. As a result, each print has slight variations due to the nature of the technique, so tone and details may vary. We mount, encase and seal your print between acrylic glass and hardboard backing into a frame package that fits a standard 8” x 10” (203mm x 254mm) frame. We recommend framing of the frame package by a professional. Please note you can scratch your print cover if it isn’t inserted in a frame, so handle accordingly to keep your print in the best condition!

We source our linen from Baird McNutt in County Antrim, Northern Ireland (149 gsm);  and our natural indigo dyestuff is from Tamil Nadu in southern India.

Our Materials:

We use natural, unbleached linen with a weight of 149gsm for all of our prints. Our indigo printing ink is made with natural indigo pigment, and our frame packages are made with acid-free materials.
